Why all foam
We compared foam builds for pressure relief, alignment, and durability in real homes.
Foam is not springs:
We chose consistent comfort over a bounce feel.
+
Why a removable cover
We tested zipped vs. non-zipped covers for washability and long-term cleanliness.
A zipper adds a seam.
We chose long-term hygiene over a seamless look.
+
Why the support core matters
We ran load and fatigue tests on different foam densities and thicknesses.
A firmer core can feel solid.
We chose lasting support over a soft-but-saggy feel.

Six weeks in and it still holds its shape

I was ready to send it back if it slept hot like the last foam mattress I owned. It doesn’t. Six weeks in, my side of the bed still looks like the day it arrived, and I haven’t woken up sweating once.

Before you decide

Honest answers, plainly written.

Everything you need to know before Origin One arrives at your door.

What is inside the mattress, exactly?

Plush and Medium use six layers: the outer cover, a fire barrier, three tuned foam layers, and a non-slip bottom. Firm uses five layers because its all-foam core has two foam layers instead of three. There are no springs or coils in any Origin One.

How do I choose Plush, Medium, or Firm?

Plush is best if you want more cushion and pressure relief. Medium is the balanced option for mixed sleep positions and the least risky place to start. Firm is for sleepers who prefer a steadier, more on-top feel. Every feel uses the same all-foam build; only the tuned foam layers change. For a deeper breakdown, read our mattress firmness guide.

Does Origin One need a box spring?

No. Use a flat platform, an adjustable base, a slatted foundation with slats no more than 3 inches apart, or the floor. We do not recommend a traditional box spring because its flex can keep the foam core from receiving even support.

How do shipping and the 365-night trial work?

Free shipping is included on every Origin One order. Your mattress ships from Houston, and you have 365 nights to try it at home.

Standard shipping is free in the contiguous 48 states, and most orders ship from our Houston, Texas fulfillment location within 1 business day. The 365-night trial starts on the delivery date.

Returns are free as well: for an approved trial return within the contiguous 48 states we do not charge restocking, pickup, or return shipping fees, so the return leg is covered too. Contact support@prettsun.com within the trial window and we will coordinate the pickup and refund.

Can I verify the materials and safety standards?

Origin One materials and construction are documented against CertiPUR-US, OEKO-TEX Standard 100, and the CFR 1633 / CFR 1632 U.S. flammability requirements. Email support@prettsun.com for current documentation.

Can I remove and wash the cover?

Yes. The top cover is zippered and removable. Wash cold on a gentle cycle with mild detergent, then hang dry or tumble dry on low. Replacement covers are available at cost during the first five years.

Does the mattress contain fiberglass?

No. Origin One uses a fiberglass-free construction. The fire barrier and every foam layer are documented, and the materials meet CertiPUR-US and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 requirements.

Does it have that new-mattress smell?

Origin One is designed to arrive clean. The cover is removable and washable, and the foams are CertiPUR-US certified for content, emissions, and durability.

Checked two boxes at once

I wanted a queen mattress no fiberglass in it and my partner wanted something that didn't clash with the room. This covered both, which is more than I expected. The green is subdued in person — I'd call it deep sage. Comfort-wise it's the middle setting, so I get support on my back and enough give on my side. The box was heavier than I expected, but that's the only friction. Two months in and no dips, no smell, no regrets.

Not another grey box

Green, soft, and it doesn't look like a hotel bed. I sleep on my side and my shoulder is fine. The color alone was worth it, honestly.

Finally a bedroom that looks finished

I'd been working around a grey mattress for two years — throws, extra pillows, a headboard I bought specifically to distract from it. The olivine green solved it in one order. In daylight it reads as a soft moss green; under a lamp it goes darker and warmer, which suits the wood in the room. On the comfort side, medium is what I expected: supportive when I'm moving around, cushioned once I settle. I sleep on my side and my shoulder stopped waking me up around week two. My sister came over, saw it, and asked for the link before she'd even sat down on it. That's the review, really. Six months on, the color hasn't faded and there's no dip on either side.

Bought it for the color, stayed for the sleep

I'll admit the olivine green is what got me to the product page. Our room has a lot of wood and green, and a white slab of foam was going to stand out in a bad way. But I've had it since spring and the color is now the second thing I think about. The cool gel memory foam mattress queen construction has kept it from getting clammy through a humid summer, and the medium feel means I can roll from my back to my side without waking up. My wife wanted the softer option and I wanted firmer; this split it. Also, it's heavier than it looks — get help carrying it. If I could change one thing, the green would come in every firmness so I could have compared before deciding.

Color is great, wish there were more shades

The green is deeper than the photos, and it's the first mattress I haven't wanted to hide. Medium suits me. One star off because the green only comes in this firmness and I wanted a second shade too.

R

Matches the room, not the catalog

Every mattress is white or grey. This one is actually green and looks intentional against our olive curtains. Same medium feel as the standard version, just not boring.

M
Marcus T.
Green was the whole reason I clicked

Our bedroom is warm — terracotta walls, a lot of plants, a walnut dresser. A white mattress in the middle of that looked like a mistake. The olivine green is muted enough to read as neutral in person, closer to sage than to emerald. Beyond the color, the medium feel fits how I sleep: on my back mostly, side sometimes, never fighting the bed to turn over. Guests keep asking what color it is.

S
Simon D.
Firmer than I expected, still figuring it out

I ordered firm because I'm a bigger guy and soft beds were leaving me sore, but this is firmer than I pictured. Three weeks in and my shoulders are still adjusting when I sleep on my side, which I do about half the night. On my stomach it's excellent and my lower back feels held. My honest note: if you're a side sleeper who weighs under 180, medium is probably the safer call. I'm keeping it, but I'd have sized down in firmness if I'd known.

No problem

Firm without being punishing

I was worried firm meant wooden. It doesn't. There's a comfort layer that keeps the surface from being harsh, but the support underneath is doing actual work — I can feel my hips staying level instead of dropping into a dip. I'm 175 pounds and sleep on my stomach, which is apparently the combination that needs this much pushback. The queen gel mattress construction has also kept it from turning into a warm puddle under me, which my previous foam bed did by the end of every summer. Three months in, the surface still looks new and there's no impression where I sleep. My only real adjustment was the first four nights, when it felt harder than the version I'd tried in a store.

H
Hank R.
Exactly the support I was after

No sinking, and no stiff mornings either. I get in, I'm held at the hips and shoulders, I sleep. One star off because it took a week before my shoulders stopped noticing the change.

N
Nathaniel S.
Depth matters when you sleep on top

A 12 inch queen mattress gives you more separation from whatever is underneath, and that's what I noticed first — no hardness coming up through my hips. Firm on the surface, but there's enough material below that it doesn't feel like a board. I sleep on my stomach and my side and this is the first bed where my back doesn't complain in the morning. The corners came up evenly too, which wasn't true of the last one I owned.

W
Whitney P.
Wanted firm, wanted no fiberglass, got both

Two requirements, and it's harder to find them together than it should be. I'm a stomach sleeper at 185 pounds and I need a surface that doesn't give much, and I wasn't willing to bring a fiberglass free queen mattress question into the house with a newborn upstairs. This one handled both. The feel is genuinely firm — there's a thin cushion layer so it isn't brutal, but you're on top of the bed, not inside it. My back feels supported at the hips without that hollow dip I used to get. The cover has a subtle texture that keeps sheets from sliding, which is a small thing I've come to appreciate. One caution: if you're under 160 pounds and mostly sleep on your side, I'd think twice — this is not a forgiving surface at the shoulder.

A
Aaron K.
Firm, as advertised — give it time

The first week was an adjustment. I came from a pillow-top and this felt like sleeping on a floor for about four nights. Then my body settled and now I actually prefer it — my lower back isn't craning anymore when I lie on my stomach. I knocked off a star because the break-in period was real and nobody warned me. If you're going from soft to firm, plan for a week.

T
Tessa M.
Holds me up, not the other way around

At 210 pounds I sink into most foam beds. This one pushes back. I wake up level instead of folded. First mattress where I don't feel like I'm climbing out of a hole.

B
Brandon C.
Stomach sleeper approved

I sleep on my stomach and every soft mattress I've tried has bowed my lower back into an arch by morning. Firm was the right call, and the oak table comparison isn't overselling it. I went looking for a firm mattress for back pain queen size, mostly because I wanted support rather than cushioning — what I got was a surface that keeps me level all night. Four months in, no sagging and no arch.

F
Fiona Z.
The compromise bed that didn't feel like a compromise

Five months ago we replaced a fifteen-year-old mattress that had two visible body grooves in it. My partner is 6'2" and sleeps on his stomach, I'm 5'4" and sleep on my side, and shopping together was a disaster until we agreed on the middle. This queen memory foam mattress 12 inch was the pick. He gets the firmness he needs through the hips, I get enough give at the shoulder to stop the tingling. The layers are doing real work — you can feel the transition from soft to supportive without it being a jolt. Minor thing: it's heavy, and moving it upstairs took two of us and some swearing. Also worth knowing — the corners took almost a full two days to rise, so don't judge the shape on night one.

S
Stefan V.
Twelve inches, and it still feels substantial

We came from a 14-inch bed and I was worried this would feel thin by comparison. It doesn't. The foam has real density — it doesn't collapse under you — and after three months there's no dip where I sleep. Firm was the right call for me: I'm 190 pounds and sleep on my stomach, and this keeps my hips from dropping. The one thing I'd tell anyone comparing depths: don't judge it by the number, judge it by whether you bottom out. I don't.

D
Derek U.
Comfortable once it opened up

Took about 48 hours to fully expand and the first night was a little firm. Now it's exactly the middle ground I wanted. Four stars only because the wait was longer than the box suggested.

M
Marisol I.
We finally stopped switching sides

My husband and I have opposite preferences and for years we'd been rotating which one of us got the good side of a mattress that had gone bad in the middle. Medium turned out to be the neutral ground we couldn't find on our own. He doesn't feel like he's sinking through it, and I don't feel like I'm lying on a board waiting for morning. The part I didn't expect: when he gets up for work at 4:45, I don't feel a thing. Not a wobble, not a dip where he was. On the old bed I'd be awake for an hour after. Six weeks in and we've stopped negotiating. The first two nights it smelled faintly of foam, which cleared by the third morning, and I haven't noticed it since.

C
Curtis Q.
Solid, but I wish the edges held more

I'll start with what works: the surface feel is right, my back doesn't sink, and after six weeks there's no dip where I sleep. My issue is the perimeter. I sit on the side of the bed to put my shoes on every morning and it compresses more than I'd like, and if I roll near the edge I feel like I'm sliding toward the floor. It's a real limitation if you use the full width of a queen. Not a problem in the middle of the bed, which is where I actually sleep. For context I'm 165 pounds and mostly on my back, so a lighter sleeper might notice the edge less. I'd still buy it again — the center is genuinely comfortable — but I'd tell a friend to think about how much they use the perimeter of a queen.

L
Lila E.
Sleeps neutral, not icy

To be clear, this isn't a refrigerated bed. What it is: I no longer wake up overheated at 2 a.m. the way I did on straight foam. I went with the cool gel memory foam mattress queen because my husband runs hot and I don't, and we both sleep through now. The medium feel suits us — he's 190 pounds, I'm 135, and neither of us feels like we're sleeping in a ditch.

O
Owen Y.
Bought it blind, no regrets

Ordered without trying it in a store. The medium is soft enough that I look forward to getting in and supportive enough that I don't wake up stiff. Would order again.

B
Bethany G.
Good for a mixed sleeper who mostly sides

I start on my back and end up on my side by morning, so I needed something that wouldn't punish either. When I was comparing options, most of the queen mattress for side sleepers picks I read about sounded too soft for the back half of my night. Medium splits the difference well — my shoulder has room and my lower back isn't arched up. Also, the cover is soft enough to skip a mattress pad.

T
Travis O.
The fiberglass answer sealed it for me

Two things pushed me to this one. First, I wanted a bed my partner and I could actually share without one of us being miserable — she's a side sleeper, I'm on my back, and our previous setup meant somebody lost every night. Second, I'd read enough about mattress covers to want a fiberglass free queen mattress, and this was upfront about it instead of dodging the question. On the comfort side, medium has been the right compromise. She gets her cushion, I get a surface that doesn't swallow me. Two months in, no impressions where we sleep and no complaints from either side of the bed. The one thing I'd flag: it's heavy, and getting the box upstairs was a two-person job with a lot of stopping on the landing. Beyond that there's nothing to report, which is exactly what I want from a bed.

M
Miles A.
Does what the description says

Soft on top, firm underneath, no sagging in the middle after two months. My back feels supported when I roll over instead of collapsing. Simple as that.

D
Darlene P.
Bought it for my 16-year-old, now I want one

My son outgrew his twin in the spring and we needed a queen for his room. I read the firmness guide on the PrettSun site before ordering and went with medium, since he sleeps on his back and his side. He says it's the first bed he hasn't ended up on the floor next to. I've lain on it enough to know I'd be fine on one myself — the cover is soft and it doesn't have that plasticky feel foam often has.

R
Renee F.
Comfortable, took me a week to adjust

First three nights I thought it was too firm, which surprised me because I'd been on an old innerspring that had gone soft in the middle. By the end of week one my body caught up and now it feels right. I sleep on my back and my side, and the transition between the two is smooth. If you're coming off a very worn mattress, give it more than a weekend before you judge it.
